COMMUNITY HISTORY
The Country Club of Miami is comprised of 2 golf courses which are beautifully manicured, 36 championship holes and lush green fairways. The club was designed by Robert Trent Jones and was founded in 1961. Arnold Palmer was the first professional golfer in this club. Comedian-actor Jackie Gleason was the most illustrious member and resident of Country Club and he played host to a number of celebrity golfers like Bob Hope & Bing Crosby. The club is associated with some wonderful memories as Jack Nicklaus won his 1st professional tournament here and Lee Trovino won his 4th professional title at the club. Country Club of Miami West Course has a 7,017 yard par-72 course and hosted the Senior PGA Tour Qualifying School in 1991. It offers a challenging adventure through rolling greens, lush fairways and the treacherous bunkers. The Club was also the original venue for the National Airlines Open.
Country Club of Miami East Course has a year round golf season. It is fully open to visitors and Tee times are fully welcomed. Among practice facilities, it has a driving range and a putting green. It also has an on-site golf academy. The services offered here include pull carts, rental carts and rental clubs. The East Course boasts of a number of famous players such as Bob Hope & Jack Nicklaus. The layout can accommodate both beginner and an experienced golfer. The course is very well maintained and has bunkers and water hazards. There is some housing pretty close to the course.
The main USP of the Club is the grass driving range as well as large pitching, chipping and putting areas for golfers to work on their short game. The Country Club also boasts of a huge spacious banquet which can cater to 300 guests and there is an attractive dining and bar area.
The golf courses and the club house are currently owned and managed by Miami Dade County and is operated a public course as part of the Miami Dade Parks System.
